Talk, Eat, Drink (TED) in East Lindsey is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund under its Ageing Better Programme. The TED Programme tries to identify the good provision that is happening through existing groups and facilities and helps to develop and promote them. This is achieved through the involvement of older people and local organisations. TED is working to reduce isolation across East Lindsey and is designed to empower and connect individuals, helping to create sustainable change in communities.

About TED

TED Ageing Better in East Lindsey is a seven year National Lottery Community Fund Project as part of their Ageing Better Programme which is working with individuals, groups, organisations and local businesses across the district to reduce the experience of social isolation and loneliness for those over 50. 36.4% of the population in East Lindsey are aged over 60 and 80% are living in rural locations.

TED works with several key partners such as East Lindsey District Council, Lincolnshire County Council, Age UK Lindsey, Lincolnshire East Clinical Commissioning Group, and Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Trust. All with the common goal of making the borough of East Lindsey an Age-friendly Community.

The key areas that TED delivers in are Louth, Horncastle, Mablethorpe, Sutton-on-Sea and Skegness, although we do look to cover the whole of East Lindsey. We help to organise self-sustaining Friendship Groups in each area, conduct Age-friendly Business assessments and work with a variety of Commissioned Services to reach a wider community and to also conduct research into the challenges over 50s face as they reach retirement.

If you are interested in getting involved, either by becoming an age friendly business, creating a local friendship group, becoming a TED member, taking part in our regular events, contact the TED team by calling 01529 301966 ort email ted@lincsymca.co.uk today.

TED Friendship Groups

Friendship groups are a self-sustaining community initiative developed through Talk, Eat, Drink (TED) as part of the National Lottery Community funded Ageing Better programme. The aim of the groups are to welcome and encourage anyone over the age of 50 to get involved with their local community, meet new people, and take part in social activities. Friendship groups are volunteer led with support provided by the TED Friendship Officer. Volunteers are encouraged to plan activities, outings and engage other members of the group to ensure the groups success and longevity.
